Question: Sometimes I get email that contains a link to a website. Most of the time these links show up as clickable links. When I click on the underlined link, my Web browser opens at the site. Sometimes, though, these links aren't "clickable." I have to copy the web address and paste it into the address bar of my browser. Why?
Answer: In most cases, this has more to do with the email software you are using than the person who sent you the message. Older versions of Netscape Messenger, for instance, won't show a clickable link within a received email message unless the sender typed "http://" in front of the web address. Most recent versions of email software will show a clickable link within a received email message as long as the URL looks like a valid web address, regardless of whether it has "http://" in front of it.
